| OK i know all of us have talked about i see it being discussed about 1 to 2 times a month. Well i am about to tell a story, so bear with me. My roommate and i were talking about a new manifold design. So we started coming up with more ideas.. Well recently as begining of the year I took some more welding classes. I have gotten pretty good with MiG and TiG. Since provided that in class i could make what ever i wanted (class can be cool), so sheet metal in varying thickness i had available for free. Mild steel, aluminum, and 304 stainless steel. I asked where i can get tubing locally (having trouble still)there is more then Burns Stainless. Well anyways put that off went into class i cut up some sheet metal mig welding processs. Got a shape of the new main chamber, made a flange, and designed the runners to match where the the lower plenums directions. Yet the runners have not been constructed yet. I have a jig that keeps the same port shape as the lower plenum as well as keeping the slant on the runner I am looking for better metal to make the whol manifold with besides 304 stainless steel. Injection mold is another option. The Mitsubishi people use to come over to take clases at ISU(they build all the dsm and chrysler stuff here), My friends and i have the avaliablity to use this equipment for free. Since it is a class. For now i just need to get a good design and then maybe when mass producing it will it become neccesary. I need to find the clearnance betweein the existing plenum and the hood. I dont have a motor in my car yet alone besides it being a fully gutted shell. The 2 Z friends of mine really dont live to close to me. I want to make the runners the max length i can make them. I also want to design/and innovate the main chamber to fit a z with out a strut tower bar one with and one with out the cut out slot for the strut tower bar. That way either user can buy one or the other with out having to scarfice a loss of handling due to more power or vise versa restricting the power guy with a loss of an upgrade for handle provider. I also believe to make more power with the manifold is get an even bigger throttle body something that over stock together. So looking into those options. We want to give the customer many options with this manifold design that way ,we can keep costs down for the consumer. One way of constucting that would be from aluminum sheet metal, TiG welded consturction,a larger throttle body, as well with the intgeration of mounting the coil packs on portuding mounts. I have a jig almost completed now all i have to do is find the length from plenum to hood and get a car to mount it on. Make sure it works and then go to town and make one throw it on the car run it down to the dyno shop and see what it will do. Then i can make adjustments from there until i get something that i like. I want to keep the manifold functional as stock but being able to gain far more because of the design. New changes come to mind with deletion of the water hoses underneath the plenum, lower engine temps, less weight, lower intake temps, more power in the mid to high power band, changing injectors, we could even completely get rid of the whole side feed system and go top feed with the new design. As well as easier matience, a cam swap, a turbo swap maybe, spark plug change, valve cover gasket change will be easier to do. Saving the customer time and money. I am trying to do more of these things, But my day job at State Farm is holding me back in away. Also with going to school to finish my degree, and Arbys. So every advantage of time goes to the other thing like my business. Which i want to do more of with. Things like i am trying to promote such as bring great things to the Z community like MicroTec EMS, New intake manifold design and a dual ball bearing turbo kit which is affordable for all. The NA Z guys will apperciate running a computer that will benefit their gains as well, A new intake manifold may produce quite a bit more power. And possibly a new header design for both na and the tt guys. I guess i just introduced my new product line of Fabrication, Inovations, and Technology or also know as FiTec Designs in addition to S & A Polishing. Thank you for reading and i will bring these products to the Z community very soon.
